The population is aging. As a result, the focus of the annual report by England’s Chief Medical Officer on healthy aging is welcome. The report, Health in an Ageing Society, makes several salient points, including a need to focus on quality of life rather than lifespan and the lack of inclusion of older adults in research. Additionally, the report highlights the need for environmental adaptation—focusing on the physical environment—from ensuring services are in the correct geographical areas to tailoring the built environment to the needs of an aging population. How can we create a proper environment for our older adults?
